AIBO MIND

From AIBO WIKI

AIBO MIND is AIBOWARE for the ERS-7 series. There are three separate versions: MIND (referred to hereafter as MIND 1), MIND 2, and MIND 3. Each version was introduced with the corresponding release of the ERS-7.

History[edit]

Function[edit]

It was the first AIBO 'personality' software to include wireless communications natively, beginning in MIND 1 with a translation of the features found in the AIBO EYES suite. Custom Data was also implemented for the first time, distributed with the AIBO Custom Manager application compatible with all three releases.

The final upgrade in the AIBO MIND series, MIND 3 added a number of new capabilities that the previous AIBO MIND releases lacked. At 128MB to account for the expanded collection of WAV files for voice samples, the MIND 3 memory stick is the largest storage volume released for AIBO.

MIND 3 gives owners the option to choose whether their AIBO speaks to them in English and Spanish or Japanese, or whether it continues to use tonal sounds as previous AIBO MIND releases did. It is capable of self-docking on the Energy Station, and included a Station Pole and Mat set to allow AIBO to recognize where its Energy Station is and align itself properly before docking. MIND 3 is also capable of communicating with a computer via the AIBO Entertainment Player.

Functionality[edit]

MIND 3 has limited mapping functionality- during a given session, AIBO will recall the general position of it's station, ball, bone, and owner when it is seen. When the robot turns off or enough time has generally passed, the position data is discarded.
The AIBO Entertainment Player was updated to version 2.0, and among smaller upgrades, it gained RSS compatibility, the AIBO Diary, and MIND Scope, an updated version of the viewport featured in the previous version with visual feedback related to AIBO's map, emotions, and surroundings.
